Let's draw a diagram to understand the problem better.

From the diagram, we can see that to reach a point which is horizontally in line with point A, Sam needs to move towards the north until he reaches the intersection point Q.

After reaching point Q, he needs to move towards the east for the remaining distance.

Distance covered by Sam towards the north = 10 m (given).

Distance to be covered by Sam towards the east = AQ - (distance covered by Jon) = 30 - 15 = 15 m.

Total distance covered by Sam = distance towards the north + distance towards the east = 10 + 15 = 25 m.

Hence, Sam needs to travel 20 m towards the north direction to reach a point which is horizontally in line with point A.
