Read the following information carefully and answer the questions based on it.
The scatter chart given below shows the information about the number of red balls, black balls and white balls in three bags P, Q, and R. Each bags contains certain number of balls of these three types. Value at X-axis for the bubble (40, 80, and 120) gives information about the red colour balls, black and white colour balls respectively. Value at Y-axis of a bubble (orange) shows the total number of balls, Y-axis of bubble (blue) sum of balls in Bag P and bag Q together as a % (half%) balls in bag R, and Y-axis of bubble (green) shows the number of balls in bag P as a percentage of number of balls in bag R.
Note: Probability of picking a white ball from bag Q is 8/31 and number of ways of choosing two white balls from bag P is 28.
If one ball is withdrawn from each bag, then find the probability that each ball is black colour.
  • a)
    125/1674
  • b)
    250/1674
  • c)
    250/2511
  • d)
    125/2511
  • e)
    None of these
Correct answer is option 'D'. Can you explain this answer?

Read the following information carefully and answer the questions bas...
Total number of red balls = 90
Number of red balls in P/Number of red balls in R = 60/100 = 3/5
(Red balls in P + Red balls in Q) / red balls in R = 2 x 100% = 200% = 2/1 = 10/5
So, total number of red balls = (10 + 5) units = 15 units = 90
Value of 1 unit = 90/15 = 6
So, red balls in P = 6 x 3 = 18
Red balls in R = 5 x 6 = 30
Red balls in Q = 10 x 6 – 18 = 42
Let number of white balls in P = a
Now,
aC2 = 28
so, a x (a – 1) = 28 x 2 = 56 = 8 x 7
so, value of a = 8
so, white balls in P = 8
Total number of black balls = 100
(Black balls in P + Black balls in Q)/Black balls in R = 2 x 75% = 3/2
So, (3 + 2) units = 100
Value of 1 unit = 20
So, black balls in R = 20 x 2 = 40
Sum of black balls in (P + Q) = 60
Total number of white balls = 60
Number of white balls in P/White balls in R = 40/100 = 2/5
So, number of white balls in R = 5/2 x 8 = 20
So, white balls in Q = 60 – 8 – 20 = 32
Probability of picking a white ball from bag Q = 8/31
So, total balls in bag Q = 31/8 x 32 = 124
So, black balls in Q = 124 – 32 – 42 = 50
So, number of black balls in P = 60 – 50 = 10
According to question,
Required probability = 10/36 x 50/124 x 40/90 = 125/2511
Hence answer is option D
