There are eight planets in our solar system.

1. Mercury:

Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and is the smallest planet in our solar system. It has a rocky surface and no atmosphere.

2. Venus:

Venus is the second planet from the sun and is similar in size and composition to Earth. It has a thick atmosphere that traps heat, making it the hottest planet in our solar system.

3. Earth:

Earth is the third planet from the sun and is the only planet in our solar system known to support life. It has a diverse atmosphere that contains oxygen, nitrogen, and other gases.

4. Mars:

Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and is known as the "Red Planet" due to its rusty color. It has a thin atmosphere and a rocky, desert-like surface.

5. Jupiter:

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and is known for its giant red spot, a massive storm on its surface. It is a gas giant and does not have a solid surface.

6. Saturn:

Saturn is the second-largest planet in our solar system and is known for its beautiful rings made of ice and rock particles. It is also a gas giant.

7. Uranus:

Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun and is an ice giant. It has a tilted axis, causing its seasons to last for decades.

8. Neptune:

Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun and is also an ice giant. It has the strongest winds in our solar system and is known for its dark, stormy atmosphere.

In addition to these eight planets, there are also five known dwarf planets in our solar system: Pluto, Ceres, Eris, Haumea, and Makemake. However, these are not considered full-fledged planets like the eight listed above.
