Directions: Study the following information carefully to answer the questions given below it.
In a school of 2500 students, all the students have enrolled for different games viz hockey, table-tennis, badminton, football, cricket, chess, and carrom. The respective ratio of girls to boys in the school is 3 : 2. 20% of the boys play only cricket. 25% of the girls play table tennis, badminton and carrom only. 26.8% of the boys play only football. The number of girls playing only cricket is 175% of the boys playing the same. The respective ratio of girls to boys playing only chess is 12 : 11. 25.7% of the boys play hockey, table tennis and carrom only. One-fourth of the girls play only badminton. The remaining girls play football and hockey only. The remaining boys play only chess.

The number of boys plays chess only ⇒ 1000 − (200 + 268 + 257)
⇒ 1000 − 725= 275
The total number of students playing more than one game ⇒ 375 + 257 + 100 = 732
Now according to the question, it is clear that the number of students playing hockey
⇒ 257 + 100 = 357
Therefore, the percentage becomes:
⇒ Number of students playing Hockey/Total number of students×100
⇒ 357/2500 × 100 = 14.28%

- Girls playing only badminton = 1/4 * total girls = 1/4 * 3/5 * 2500 = 375

Calculation of total number of students playing hockey:

- Girls playing hockey = Total girls - (girls playing table tennis, badminton, and carrom only + girls playing only cricket + girls playing only chess + girls playing only badminton + remaining girls) = 1500 - (375 + 350 + 130 + 375 + y) = 1500 - (1230 + y)
- Total students playing hockey = Boys playing hockey + Girls playing hockey = 500 - (725 + x) + 1500 - (1230 + y) = 2000 - (1955 + x + y)

Calculation of percentage:

- Required percentage = (Total students playing hockey / Total students in the school) * 100
- Required percentage = [2000 - (1955 + x + y) / 2500] * 100
- Simplifying, we get: Required percentage = (45 - x - y) / 25

Therefore, the total number of students playing hockey is 14.28% of the total number of students in the school.
