Alok thinks that a country needs an efficient goverment that looks aft...
Ans.
Alok’s thinking is completely ignorant. Executive and legislature have quite two different domains of operation. The executive runs the administration of the country while legislature is concerned with the formation of laws and to check the executions of the executive and judiciary. If we simply elect our Prime Minister and minister and leave to them the task of government, it will give rise to dictatorship. The legislature helps people in holding the Council of Ministers accountable. Without the legislature, a true representative democracy cannot be materialised. Legislature is the most important organ of all the organs of government. Without the fetters of the legislature there would be all likelihood that the Council of Ministers would become unresponsive to the people’s hopes and aspirations.

Alok thinks that a country needs an efficient goverment that looks aft...
Introduction:
Alok suggests that if we simply elect our prime minister and ministers and leave the task of government solely to them, we would not need a legislature. In this response, we will examine this statement and consider the importance of having a legislature in a country.
Importance of an Efficient Government:
Having an efficient government that looks after the welfare of the people is crucial for the development and progress of a country. A government is responsible for making and implementing policies, managing the economy, maintaining law and order, providing essential services, and addressing the needs of the citizens. Without an effective government, the functioning of a country would be hindered, and the well-being of the people would be compromised.
The Role of a Legislature:
A legislature plays a vital role in a democratic system of governance. It is a representative body that is responsible for making laws, overseeing the actions of the government, and ensuring accountability. The legislature provides a platform for lawmakers to debate and discuss various issues, represent the interests of their constituents, and make informed decisions. It acts as a check and balance mechanism, preventing the concentration of power in the hands of a few individuals.
Reasons for the Necessity of a Legislature:
1. Representation: A legislature ensures that the diverse voices and perspectives of the people are heard and represented. It allows for the participation of various political parties, minority groups, and individuals from different backgrounds, thus promoting inclusivity and diversity in decision-making processes.
2. Checks and Balances: A legislature acts as a check on the executive branch of government. It scrutinizes the actions of the government, reviews proposed policies and laws, and holds the government accountable for its decisions. This ensures transparency, prevents abuse of power, and promotes good governance.
3. Lawmaking: The primary function of a legislature is to make laws. It provides a platform for lawmakers to discuss and debate issues, consider different perspectives, and pass legislation that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people. Without a legislature, the government would have unchecked power to make and enforce laws, which could lead to authoritarianism and potential erosion of civil liberties.
4. Representation of Minority Interests: A legislature plays a crucial role in representing the interests of minority groups. It provides a platform for marginalized communities to voice their concerns, propose legislation, and seek redress for their grievances. This ensures the protection of minority rights and prevents the domination of majority interests.
Conclusion:
While an efficient government is essential for the welfare of the people, it is equally important to have a legislature in place. A legislature serves as a check on the government, ensures representation and diversity in decision-making, and upholds the principles of democracy. Therefore, simply electing a prime minister and ministers without a legislature would undermine the democratic process and hinder the long-term progress and well-being of the country.
