How many stages are there in the SBI PO interview process?
Stages of the SBI PO Interview Process
The State Bank of India (SBI) conducts the Probationary Officer (PO) recruitment process to select candidates for the position of PO in its various branches across the country. The SBI PO interview process consists of three stages, which are as follows:
1. Preliminary Examination
The first stage of the SBI PO interview process is the Preliminary Examination. It is an online objective test that assesses the candidate's aptitude, reasoning, and English language skills. The exam is divided into three sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. Candidates need to qualify in each section by securing the minimum cutoff marks set by the bank. The Preliminary Examination is usually held in the month of June.
2. Main Examination
Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination, which is the second stage of the SBI PO interview process. The Main Examination is also an online objective test but with a higher level of difficulty compared to the Preliminary Examination. It consists of four sections: Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/Economy/Banking Awareness, and English Language. Additionally, there is a Descriptive Test that assesses the candidate's writing skills. The Main Examination is usually held in the month of July.
3. Group Exercise and Interview
Candidates who qualify the Main Examination are shortlisted for the third and final stage of the SBI PO interview process, which includes a Group Exercise and Interview. The Group Exercise involves a group discussion or a case study where candidates are assessed on their communication skills, leadership qualities, and ability to work in a team. The Interview is conducted by a panel of experts who evaluate the candidate's personality, knowledge, and suitability for the role of a PO in SBI. The Group Exercise and Interview are usually conducted in the month of September.
Final Selection
The final selection of candidates is based on their performance in the Main Examination, Group Exercise, and Interview. The marks obtained in the Main Examination (both objective and descriptive) are converted to a normalized score out of 75, while the Group Exercise and Interview are conducted out of 25 marks. The final merit list is prepared based on the candidate's overall score, and the selected candidates are offered the position of Probationary Officer in SBI.
In conclusion
The SBI PO interview process consists of three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Group Exercise/Interview. These stages aim to assess the candidate's aptitude, reasoning, English language skills, knowledge, communication skills, leadership qualities, and suitability for the role of a PO in SBI. The final selection is based on the candidate's performance in these stages and the merit list prepared thereafter.
