Age Relaxation for Reserved Category Candidates in SBI PO Application Form
Aspirants belonging to reserved categories often get certain relaxations and concessions in various competitive exams, including the State Bank of India (SBI) Probationary Officer (PO) recruitment. The SBI PO application form also provides age relaxation to candidates from reserved categories. Let's discuss the age relaxations for reserved category candidates in detail.
Category-wise Age Relaxation
1. SC/ST Candidates: Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates can avail a maximum age relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit prescribed for general category candidates. For example, if the upper age limit for general category candidates is 30 years, SC/ST candidates can apply till the age of 35 years.
2. OBC Candidates: Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates can avail a maximum age relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit. Similar to the SC/ST candidates, if the upper age limit for general category candidates is 30 years, OBC candidates can apply till the age of 33 years.
3. Ex-Servicemen: Ex-Servicemen candidates, including Commissioned Officers and Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs)/Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs) who have served at least 5 years in military service, can avail an age relaxation of 5 years. This relaxation is over and above the other category-wise relaxations mentioned above.
4. Persons with Disabilities (PwD): PwD candidates can avail a maximum age relaxation of 10 years, irrespective of their category. This relaxation is provided to ensure equal opportunities for differently-abled candidates.
5. Widows, Divorced Women, and Women Judicially Separated: Widows, divorced women, and women judicially separated from their husbands and not remarried can avail an age relaxation of up to 7 years, irrespective of their category.
6. Persons affected by 1984 riots: Candidates who were affected by the 1984 riots can avail an age relaxation of 5 years.
Important Points to Note:
- The relaxation in the upper age limit will be applicable only if the candidate provides the necessary documentary proof for their category.
- The date of birth mentioned in the matriculation/secondary examination certificate will be considered as the valid proof of age.
- The cumulative effect of age relaxation under multiple categories is not allowed. Candidates can avail relaxation in only one category, whichever is most beneficial to them.
It is important for reserved category candidates to carefully go through the official notification and guidelines provided by the SBI while filling the application form for the PO exam. They should ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria and provide the necessary documents to claim age relaxation, if applicable.
