Primary Teacher (Classes I to V)


The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in order to determine the eligibility of candidates for the appointment of primary and upper primary teachers in schools across India. The eligibility criteria for primary and upper primary teacher posts in CTET are as follows:

1. Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks.
- They should have completed or be pursuing a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) OR
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) OR
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline and have completed a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

2. Age Limit:
- There is no specific age limit for candidates applying for the primary teacher post in CTET.

3. Nationality:
- Candidates must be Indian nationals.

4. Percentage Relaxation:
- There is a relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks for candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled.

Upper Primary Teacher (Classes VI to VIII)


1. Qualification:
- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- They should have completed or be pursuing a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) OR
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) OR
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline and have completed a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) OR
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline and have completed a 1-year B.Ed (Special Education).

2. Age Limit:
- There is no specific age limit for candidates applying for the upper primary teacher post in CTET.

3. Nationality:
- Candidates must be Indian nationals.

4. Percentage Relaxation:
- There is a relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks for candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently-abled.
