CA Foundation Exam Pattern

The CA Foundation Exam is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). It is an entry-level examination for students who wish to pursue a career in chartered accountancy. The exam is divided into four papers, each carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The duration of each paper is three hours. Here is the detailed exam pattern for the CA Foundation Exam:

Paper 1: Principles and Practices of Accounting
- This paper consists of 80 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying one mark each and 16 subjective questions carrying four marks each.
- The total marks for this paper are 100.
- The objective questions are based on topics like accounting principles, partnership accounts, company accounts, and accounting for special transactions.

Paper 2: Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting
- This paper is divided into two sections.
- Section A: Business Laws consists of 60 MCQs carrying one mark each and 20 subjective questions carrying four marks each. The total marks for this section are 80.
- Section B: Business Correspondence and Reporting consists of two parts - Part I: Communication and Part II: Sentence Correction and Vocabulary. Each part carries 20 marks.
- The total marks for this paper are 100.

Paper 3: Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics
- This paper is divided into four sections.
- Section A: Business Mathematics consists of 40 MCQs carrying one mark each and 20 subjective questions carrying four marks each. The total marks for this section are 60.
- Section B: Logical Reasoning consists of 20 MCQs carrying one mark each and 20 subjective questions carrying four marks each. The total marks for this section are 40.
- Section C: Statistics consists of 40 MCQs carrying one mark each and 20 subjective questions carrying four marks each. The total marks for this section are 60.
- Section D: Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics consists of 20 MCQs carrying one mark each. The total marks for this section are 20.
- The total marks for this paper are 180.

Paper 4: Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge
- This paper is divided into two sections.
- Section A: Business Economics consists of 60 MCQs carrying one mark each and 20 subjective questions carrying four marks each. The total marks for this section are 80.
- Section B: Business and Commercial Knowledge consists of 40 MCQs carrying one mark each and 20 subjective questions carrying four marks each. The total marks for this section are 60.
- The total marks for this paper are 140.

Note: The CA Foundation Exam is conducted in offline mode, and candidates need to score a minimum of 40% in each paper and a minimum of 50% in aggregate to pass the exam.
