In a thermal power plant, the condenser is the part where steam pressure is less than that of the atmosphere. The condenser is responsible for cooling down the exhaust steam from the turbine and condensing it back into liquid water.
The steam, after passing through the turbine, has lost much of its pressure and temperature. It enters the condenser at a relatively low pressure. In the condenser, the exhaust steam comes into contact with cool water or a coolant flowing through tubes, causing the steam to lose additional heat and condense into water.
As the steam condenses, its pressure decreases further, and the resulting water is typically at a pressure slightly below atmospheric pressure. This low-pressure water is then pumped back to the boiler to be heated and converted into steam again.
Therefore, the correct answer is D: Condenser.
