- By the First Amendment Act of the Constitution of India, Articles 15,19,85,87,174,176,314, 342, 374, and 376 were amended and two new Articles 31-A and 31-B and the 9th Schedule were included in the Constitution.
- The Constitution (First Amendment) Act, which was enacted in the year 1951, has made several changes in the provision of Fundamental Rights by the Constitution of India.
- This led to zamindari abolition laws, freedom of speech and expression.
- Provided legislation against abuse, and clarified that the right to equality does not preclude the enforcement of laws providing for "special reservation" for weaker sections of the society.
