The chart given below shows the number of books owned, number of books issued, and number of Hindi books available in five different libraries – P, Q, R, S, and T.
Books Owned (Hindi + English) = Books issued + Books available
Q. M = maximum possible number of English books owned by library Q.
N = Minimum possible number of English books owned by library Q.
Find the value of (2M + 3N).

For library Q
Number of books owned = 400
Number of books issued = 220
Number of books available = 400 – 220 = 180
Number of Hindi books available = 120
Number of English books available = 180 – 120 = 60
For maximum possible value of the number of English books owned.
Number of Hindi books available are 120, so there are at least 120 Hindi books owned.
So, maximum number of English books owned = 400 – 120 = 280
For minimum possible value of number of English books owned.
Number of English books available are 60, so there are at least 60 books owned by library
That means no English book issued, so number of English books owned = 60
Required value = (2 x 280 + 3 x 60) = 740
Hence answer is option B.
