In an inter-school quiz contest, teams A, B and C reached the finals. In the final, each team was asked 4 questions, followed by the next team. When all the teams had finished one such round, the process was repeated. If a team answered a question correctly, then the team was awarded 20 points, and if a team answered incorrectly, the other teams were awarded 10 points each. The first team to score 500 points won the competition. In the contest, the final scores were: A = 500, B = 340, and C = 240. If out of a total of 54 questions asked, 37 were answered correctly, then answer the following question:

To determine which team was asked the second-highest number of questions, we need to analyze the given information and calculate the number of questions each team answered correctly.

Given information:
- A, B, and C are the three teams in the finals.
- Each team was asked 4 questions in each round.
- A team receives 20 points for a correct answer and the other teams receive 10 points each for an incorrect answer.
- The first team to score 500 points wins the competition.
- Out of 54 questions asked, 37 were answered correctly.

Analysis:
1. Each round consists of all three teams answering 4 questions each, so a total of 12 questions are asked in each round.
2. Team A has scored 500 points, which means they answered all the questions correctly.
3. The remaining 54-37=17 questions were answered incorrectly by the teams.
4. Each incorrect answer awards 10 points to the other teams, so the total points awarded for incorrect answers is 17*10=170.
5. The total points awarded for correct answers is 37*20=740.
6. Since the total points awarded for both correct and incorrect answers should be equal, the total points awarded for correct answers should be equal to the total points awarded for incorrect answers. Therefore, 740=170, which is not possible. Hence, there is an error in the given information.

Conclusion:
The given information is inconsistent and cannot be used to determine which team was asked the second-highest number of questions.

There were three teams A, B and C taking part in the quiz. Each team was asked 4 questions before the next team got his chance. Thus, a round was completed after 12 questions. A total of 54 questions were asked, out of which 37 were answered correctly and 17 incorrectly. This means that the first team was asked (4 × 4 + 4) 20 questions and the next team got (4 × 4 + 2) 18 questions and the third got 16 questions.
Scores of teams were as follows: A = 500, B = 340, C = 240
Suppose team A got X questions (X can be 20,18 or 16), out of which team A gave 'a' answers correctly and X - a
incorrectly. Total incorrect answers were 17.
a × 20 + ( 17 - (X - a)) × 10 = 500
a = (33 + X)/3
As a is an integer, so X should be divisible by 3, i.e X should be 18.
a = (33 + 18)/3 = 17
Similarly, for teams B and C, we get

Thus, Team A was asked the 2nd highest number of questions (18 in no.)
