Subsidiary alliance:- it was a rule made by British in this rule no ruler was allowed to have their own independent Army if they want protection they can get it by Britishers but in return they should give them tax if any ruler don't follow this rule in penalty he must give her whole land to the Britishers. Whereas Doctrine of lapse:- it was also a British rule in this rule if the ruler of an Empire does not have his own son then after the death of that ruler his whole territory seized by the Britishers
