In a closed compass traverse, included angles ∠A, ∠B, ∠C, ∠D, ∠E of a polygon are 79°, 99°, 101°, 190° and 70° respectively. Correction required for each angle (if any) will be,
  • a)
    +12'
  • b)
    -12'
  • c)
    +60'
  • d)
    -60'
Correct answer is option 'A'. Can you explain this answer?
Most Upvoted Answer
In a closed compass traverse, included angles ∠A, ∠B, ∠C, ...
Sum of all interior angles = 79 + 99 + 101+ 190 + 70 = 539°
But, the sum of angles should be = (2N - 4) x 90° = 540°
Hence, error = 539° - 540° = -1° and Correction = +1°
Correction per angle = +1/5 = +60'/5 = +12'.
