For a ground fault, the priority relay is ________.a)Overcurrent relay...
The reactance relay is generally preferred for protection against ground faults. Since the surface resistance can be more variable, a ground-difference relay should really be unaffected by large variations of faulty resistance. As a result, the reactance relay is usually preferred for relaying the ground. For shortest line segments, reactance type relays are preferred because most of the lines can be protected at high speeds. This is because the reactance relay is virtually unaffected by the arc resistance; this arc resistance can be larger than the line impedance. On the other hand, impedance-type differential relays at certain locations in the system are likely to operate undesirably at severe synchronization power surges unless additional relay equipment is provided to prevent such operation.
