Book Report on a Character with a Disability
In the book "Wonder" by R.J. Palacio, the main character, Auggie Pullman, has a facial deformity that makes him stand out from his peers. Despite facing numerous challenges and cruel remarks, Auggie remains resilient and kind-hearted. The story follows his journey as he navigates the ups and downs of middle school while trying to fit in and be accepted for who he is.
Diary Entry from Auggie's Perspective
Dear Diary,
Today was another tough day at school. Some kids still stare at me and whisper behind my back. It's hard not to let their words and looks get to me, but I try to stay strong. Mom always tells me to "choose kind," so I try to remember that when things get tough.
I wish people could see beyond my appearance and get to know the real me. I have so much to offer, but sometimes it feels like no one wants to give me a chance. Despite everything, I'm grateful for my family and friends who support me no matter what.
I hope that one day people will see me for who I am on the inside and not just focus on how I look on the outside. Until then, I'll keep smiling and showing the world that I am so much more than my face.
Sincerely,
Auggie
