In how many ways a team of 5 can be made out of 7 Boys and 8 Girls, if...
Solution:
In this problem, we have to form a team of 5 members out of 7 boys and 8 girls, where 2 girls are compulsory.

Step 1: Select 2 girls out of 8 girls in 8C2 ways. (Since 2 girls are compulsory)

Step 2: Select 3 members from remaining 5 girls and 7 boys in (5C3 + 7C3) ways.

Step 3: Total number of ways of forming a team of 5 members out of 7 boys and 8 girls, where 2 girls are compulsory = 8C2 × (5C3 + 7C3)

Step 4: Calculation

8C2 = (8!)/(2! × 6!) = 28

5C3 = (5!)/(3! × 2!) = 10

7C3 = (7!)/(3! × 4!) = 35

Total number of ways of forming a team of 5 members out of 7 boys and 8 girls, where 2 girls are compulsory = 28 × (10+35) = 28 × 45 = 1260

Hence, option (c) 2,702 is the correct answer.
