Odds against Ram are 4:3 so probability that he will solve the problem is 3/7.
Odds in favor of Krishna are 7:5 so probability that he will solve it is 7/12
It will be solved means that either Ram or Krishna or both will be able to solve it.
P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B) = 3/7 + 7/12 - (3/7)*(7/12) = 16/21

The odds against A solving a certain problem are 4 to 3 and the odds i...
Given:
Odds against A solving the problem = 4:3
Odds in favor of B solving the problem = 7:5

We can find the probability of A solving the problem and B not solving the problem as follows:

Probability of A not solving the problem = 4 / (4 + 3) = 4/7
Probability of B solving the problem = 7 / (7 + 5) = 7/12
Probability of B not solving the problem = 5 / (7 + 5) = 5/12

The probability of A not solving the problem and B not solving the problem can be found by multiplying their respective probabilities:

P(A not solving the problem) * P(B not solving the problem) = (4/7) * (5/12) = 5/21

The probability of the problem being solved if they both try can be found by subtracting the above probability from 1:

P(problem being solved) = 1 - 5/21 = 16/21

Therefore, the correct option is (B) 16/21.
