Problem Statement:
Two pipes can fill a tank in 15 minutes and 25 minutes respectively. Both the pipes are opened together and after some time, the first pipe is closed and the tank is completely full in 15 minutes. For how many minutes is the first pipe opened?

Solution:
Let the capacity of the tank be C.

Capacity of the first pipe = C/15
Capacity of the second pipe = C/25

Let the first pipe be open for x minutes.
Therefore, the second pipe will be open for (15-x) minutes.

The total capacity of the tank filled by both pipes in x minutes can be represented as:
(x/15) + [(15-x)/25]

We know that the entire tank is filled in 15 minutes, therefore:
(x/15) + [(15-x)/25] = C/15

On solving the above equation, we get:
x = 6

Therefore, the first pipe is open for 6 minutes.

Answer:
Option B. 6 minutes
