Cryptogams are seedless plants. The reproductive organs of members of cryptogams are inconspicuous or hidden. They produce naked embryos after fertilization that are called spores. Cryptogams are further divided into thallophytes (undifferentiated body), Bryophyta (moss plant) and pteridophytes (vascular cryptogams), Plants which make seeds and have well-differentiated reproductive tissues are called phanerogams. In these plants seeds consists of embryo along with stored food, The stored food serves the purpose of initial growth of the embryo during germination. On the basis of presence or absence of naked seeds, these are divided into two groups (i) gymnosperms (naked seed) (ii) angiosperms (covered seed).

Plants with Hidden Reproductive Organs
Plants with hidden reproductive organs refer to those that have concealed or not easily visible reproductive structures. These plants fall under the category of cryptogams.

Cryptogams
Cryptogams are plants that do not produce flowers or seeds for reproduction. They are considered to be primitive plants and include ferns, mosses, liverworts, and algae. These plants reproduce through spores instead of seeds.

Characteristics
- Cryptogams have hidden reproductive organs, making them distinct from phanerogams.
- They reproduce through spores, which are dispersed by wind or water.
- These plants often have simpler structures compared to angiosperms.

Examples
- Mosses: Mosses are small, non-vascular plants that reproduce by spores.
- Ferns: Ferns are vascular plants that reproduce through spores released from the underside of their fronds.
- Algae: Algae are diverse aquatic organisms that can reproduce both sexually and asexually through spores.

Conclusion
Plants with hidden reproductive organs are part of the cryptogams group, which includes a variety of non-flowering and non-seed producing plants. Understanding the characteristics and examples of cryptogams can help in distinguishing them from phanerogams like angiosperms.
