President has wide powers:
1. Executive powers-
*All executive actions of govn. of India are taken in his name.
*He appoints PM and other ministers.
*He appoints council of ministers, COC, chairman and governors.
2. Lagislative Powers-
* He can summon the joint sitting of both the houses of Parliament.
* He can summon the Parliament and can dissolve the lok sabha.
* He nominates 12 members to the Rajya sabha from amongst.
* He decides on questions as to qualifications of MPs.
3. Financial Powers-
* Money bill can be introduced in the Parliament only with his permission.
* He cause to be laid before the Parliament the union budget.
* He constitutes a finance commission after every 5 years.
4. Judicial Powers-
* Appoints the chief justice and the judges of supreme court and high courts.
* Can seek advice from supreme court on any question of law.
* He can grant pardon and commute the punishment of any person.
5. Emergency Powers-
* Can declare national emergency under article 352.
* Can declare financial emergency under article 360.
* Can declare presidents rule in states under article 356.
