Efficiency of a canal is defined as the ratio of the culturable commanded area to the discharge required to irrigate that area for a certain period of time.

Efficiency of Left canal:
Discharge required for 9000 Ha with 70% intensity of irrigation = (9000 x 0.7 x 120) / (24 x 3600) = 1.75 cumecs
Efficiency of left canal = 9000 / 1.75 = 5142.86 Ha/cumec

Efficiency of Right canal:

Efficiency of right canal = 1500 / 0.4 = 3750 Ha/cumec

Conclusion:
The efficiency of left canal is higher than the efficiency of the right canal. Therefore, option A is the correct answer.
