Cyanic acid , isocyanic acid Loss of proton from these two acids produces ? a. Same anion b. different anions C. Same cation d.different cation?

I think answer is B because cyanide gives CN- but the isocynide gives NC- by loss of proton. Also H+ don't take electron with leaving the group , hence no requirement of electron and cation is not formed.

Introduction:
Cyanic acid (HCNO) and isocyanic acid (HNCO) are both acids that can lose a proton (H+) to form an anion. In this response, we will discuss whether the loss of a proton from these two acids produces the same or different anions.

Explanation:
When an acid loses a proton, it forms the corresponding conjugate base. In the case of cyanic acid, the loss of a proton would result in the formation of the cyanate anion (CNO-), while in the case of isocyanic acid, the loss of a proton would produce the isocyanate anion (NCO-). Therefore, the two acids produce different anions when a proton is lost.

Difference between Cyanate and Isocyanate:
1. Cyanate (CNO-) is a polyatomic ion that consists of a central carbon atom bonded to a nitrogen atom and an oxygen atom. The cyanate ion has a negative charge.
2. Isocyanate (NCO-) is also a polyatomic ion that consists of a central nitrogen atom bonded to a carbon atom and an oxygen atom. The isocyanate ion also has a negative charge.

Reason for Different Anions:
The difference in the structure of cyanic acid and isocyanic acid leads to the formation of different anions when a proton is lost. The rearrangement of atoms during the loss of a proton results in the formation of different bonds and connectivity, leading to different anions.

Conclusion:
In summary, the loss of a proton from cyanic acid (HCNO) produces the cyanate anion (CNO-), while the loss of a proton from isocyanic acid (HNCO) produces the isocyanate anion (NCO-). Therefore, the two acids produce different anions when they undergo deprotonation.
