NEET 2020: Registrations have started from December 2 – Important update for AIIMS, JIPMER MBBS aspirant

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2020 registration process have started from December 2, 2019. National Testing Agency, NTA would be conducting NEET 2020 for admission to undergraduate medical and dental examinations on May 3, 2020. Registration process would be completely online and interested candidates are required to apply online on neet.nta.nic.in. Also, candidates interested in AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS programs may please note that they are also required to appear for NEET examination.

While a circular has not been released stating otherwise, the Union Minister of Health, Dr. Harsh Vardhan had stated that NEET would be the only medical entrance examination in India from 2020. The Health Minister had stated that the admission to both AIIMS and JIPMER would also come under the ambit of NEET examination as per the newly constituted NMC Act 2019.

Students may please note that the Health Minister had quoted MBBS admissions from 2020. Whether he meant for the academic year 2020 or for the academic year 2021 is not clear at the moment. AIIMS and JIPMER, which were conducting separate medical entrance examination till 2019 have also note issued any circular regarding an entrance examination as yet.

The importance of the decision is especially significant for the candidates who have now been restricted due to age limit to appear for NEET examination. AIIMS MBBS examination does not have an upper age limit. With removal of AIIMS MBBS entrance examination and constitution of NEET as the only entrance examination for medical and dental admissions in the country.

All students are hence advised to keep a check on the NEET 2020 notification which would be released by National Testing Agency by December 1, 2019. The registration process would begin on the official website from December 2. It’s important to note that AIIMS MBBS 2020 examination dates have also not been released as yet.
