There are multiple criteria that an aspirant needs to fulfill to be eligible for NEET Main. Let's take a look at them one by one. 

NEET Age Limit Criteria

Here is NEET 2019 age limit required for students whoever are appearing in the exam. Check detailed information on age eligibility criteria for OBC, SC, ST and general categories below.

  • Date of Birth: All candidates must be 17 years of age at the time of filling the application form. Also, the upper age limit for NEET is 25 years.
  • For Unreserved Categories (UR), only those candidates born on or between 07.05.1994 and 01.01.2003 are eligible. 
  • For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and OBC candidates who are born on or between 07.05.1989 and 01.01.2003 are eligible.
  • Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.

NEET Qualification Criteria

NEET Exam Qualification - At least one of the following criteria should be met regarding the Qualifying exam:

1. Candidates should be appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in 2019 (Their admission will be final only if they clear the marks criteria)

2. Candidates should be in the first year of the three years’ degree course of a recognized University.

3. The candidates have passed the B.Sc. Examination with not less than two of the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology

Criteria for Marks in the Qualifying Exam

The candidate who wishes to appear in NEET 2019 must secure minimum 50% passing marks. However, candidates of Reserved category need to secure minimum 40% marks.

Subjects in NEET Qualifying Exam

Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing NEET 2019. The candidates who have taken four subjects are not permitted to write NEET 2019 and if such candidates appear in NEET 2019 by furnishing wrong information, their rank/result will not be declared. It includes Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology (which shall include the practical test in these subjects) and also English as a compulsory subject.

NEET 2019 Attempt Limit

NEET Attempts - There is no limit to the number of attempts for NEET (UG), 2019.

Nationality

All candidates must be legal citizens of India. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates are also eligible to apply for NEET 2019, however, they must have passport document. Indian Nationals must also have an Aadhaar Card number to apply for the NEET examination. Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible to appear in NEET (UG)-2019.
