On the night of the 16th,
Omana went to bed early
and woke up early on the
17th to find the train stopped
in Madgoan. 
They had morning tea there.
Omana's father mentioned
they would reach Kerala via
Goa.

The scenery outside
consisted of fields with red
soil, green crops, and slopes
covered in trees. 
The air felt cooler and less
dry compared to
Ahmedabad. At a level
crossing, various vehicles
and people waited for the
train to pass.

Another train passed by swiftly,
making it hard for Omana and Unni to
count the carriages. 
Crossing a massive river on a bridge
was both thrilling and scary for
Omana, who saw boats and
fishermen below.
As Omana was reading her comics,
suddenly everything became dark.
Somebody said, "We have entered a
tunnel." They emerged on the other
side of the mountain, which Omana
found exciting.

family had idli-vada for lunch,
bought at Udupi station. They
also bought some bananas.
Outside, they now saw coconut
trees and lush fields called
paddy fields, and people
dressed differently from those in
Ahmedabad, mostly in white or
cream-coloured dhotis and
sarees.
