LEFT BANK VS RIGHT BANK TRIBUTARIES: 
 
 
 
The Zaskar river, Suru river, Soan river, Jhelum river, Chenab river, 
Ravi river, Beas river, Satluj river, are its major left-bank tributaries.  
 
The Shyok river, Gilgit river, Hunza river, Swat river, Kunnar river, 
Kurram river and Kabul river are its major right-bank tributaries. 
They all originate in the Suleiman ranges.

India got her name from Indus. ‘The Indus Valley Civilization’ was 
born around this river. 
The river flows through China(Tibet region), India and Pakistan. 
 In Tibet, it is known as Singi Khambai or Lion's mouth. 
It is one of the largest river basins of the  world, covering an area of 
11,65,000 sq. km (in India it is 321, 289 sq. km and a total length of 
2,880 km (in India 1,114 km).  
It originates from a glacier near Bokhar in the Tibetan region in the 
Kailash Mountain range  (near Manasarovar lake) .

Just above Mithankot, the Indus receives from Panjnad (Panchnad), the 
accumulated waters of the five eastern tributaries—the Jhelum, the 
Chenab, the Ravi, the Beas and the Satluj. 
 
 
 
The river empties into the Arabian Sea south of Karachi after forming 
a huge delta. 
 
The Indus flows In India only through the Leh district in Jammu and 
Kashmir  ( REMEMBER :  BIFURCATION OF STATES)
