Ques 3: Make two groups in the class. Debate the topic – ‘We should have uniforms in school.’
Ans: In favour of the topic ‘We should have uniforms in school’:
School is the temple of knowledge and it is the place where each student spends 12 long years of his/her life. I strongly believe that we should have uniforms in school. Wearing the same uniform brings the feeling of equality among students no matter how rich or poor they are. It also saves money on buying new clothes for school. Uniform brings discipline among the students and keeps them away from any distinction based on class or category. This helps the students to focus more on their studies. Wearing the same uniform also gives a feeling of commonness among the students. Last but not the least, uniform proves to be very helpful in various school trips as teachers can easily recognise their students in a crowd of people.
Thus, we should have uniforms in school as they bring unity among the students and help in building self-confidence in every student.
Against the topic ‘We should have uniforms in school’:
In this world, every people has his or her own identity. Every person has a different way of expressing himself or herself. Wearing uniform in school deprives the students of their right to wear what they want. In most of the private schools, the school uniforms are very expensive, which a middle class person may not be able to afford. It leads to stress on the students as well as on the parents, which I think is not right. Wearing the same uniform does not cut down on bullying as notorious students will always find a way to make fun of other students regardless of the dress policy.
Thus, in my opinion, we should not have uniforms in schools.
