How to Calculate Marks For SSC CGL Tier 2 Results?

If the candidates have an idea about how the marks are calculated, they can form a fair idea about the results too. The steps to calculate SSC CGL Result for Tier 2 are given below: 

• The Tier 2 exam carries a total of 800 marks. There are 500 questions in the exam.
• Each question carries 2 marks in all 4 papers. The total duration of the exam is 2 hours and 40 minutes.
• This is an MCQ type paper and there is a set marking scheme for this.
• There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for every wrong answer.
• To calculate the total marks obtained by the candidate, use the following formula: 
• Total Marks = (No. Of Correct Questions * 2) - (No. Of Incorrect Questions * 0.50).

Let's take an example to make the process more clear for you. If a candidate answered 350 questions correctly and 100 questions incorrectly, then the calculation would be as follows:

• Step 1: Number of Correct Questions = 350 
• Step 2: 350 * 2 = 700 
• Step 3: Number of Incorrect Questions = 100
• Step 4: 100 * 0.50 = 50
• Step 5: 700 - 50 = 650
• Step 6: The candidate's total marks would be 650.

Normalization of Marks in SSC CGL

SCGL exam is conducted in multiple shifts. Sometimes when you take an exam the questions in one shift might be easier than the other.  Normalization of marks is done to ensure fair grading for everyone who attempts the CGL exam. 

• This process compares the scores of all candidates who took the test on the same date and time as your's and adjusts your score based on how well they did.
• In this approach, the exam's level of difficulty won't have an impact on your final marks. Your actual score is changed to a normalized score.

This updated score regards the difficulty level of the exam. This new score is used to determine your final grade and ranking in merit list. What After SSC CGL Tier 2 Result?

Since the SSC has made changes to the selection process this year with only two Tiers, Tier 1 Exam and Tier 2 Exam. The SSC CGL Result for Tier 2 will be the final result for 36,001 CGL vacancies. Candidates who qualify in the Section-I and Section-II of Paper-I of Tier-II will be called for evaluation of Section-III i.e. Computer Knowledge Test (CKT) Module and Data Entry Speed Test (DEST). Post this round, shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. Then the final merit list will be prepared based on the performance from Tier I and Tier 2.

How to Calculate Marks For SSC CGL Result for Tier 1?

The candidates can estimate and cross-check them for SSC CGL Tier I Results by following the given marking scheme:

• The Tier 1 exam consists of 200 marks in total.
• There are 100 questions in the exam.
• For each correct answer, the candidate gains 2 marks.
• For each wrong answer, 0.5 mark is deducted for each question.
• Thus the candidates can add two marks for all correct answers attempted and reduce 0.5 marks they scored for every wrong answer in the total.
