Important Decision by CM: Minimum Wage Increase
On August 28, 2023, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot approved a proposal to increase the minimum wage rates by Rs 26 per day for each category of workers. This decision aims to provide economic and social support to workers in the state.
- Revised Minimum Wages: Following the Chief Minister's approval:
- Unskilled workers will now earn Rs 285 per day (Rs 7410 per month), up from Rs 259.
- Semi-skilled workers will receive Rs 297 per day (Rs 7722 per month), increased from Rs 271.
- Skilled workers will earn Rs 309 per day (Rs 8034 per month), up from Rs 283.
- Highly skilled workers will receive Rs 359 per day (Rs 9334 per month), increased from Rs 333.
- Effective Date: The revised minimum wage rates will be effective from January 1, 2023, in consideration of the economic interests of workers and laborers.
- Background: The Labour Department had proposed this increase under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, based on a 687-point rise in the Consumer Price Index from July 2021 to December 2022 across 56 employment categories.

State Council of Ministers Meeting: Review of 'Rajasthan Mission-2030'

- The Planning Department presented on the mission, highlighting that the vision document would be based on individual department visions. Chief Minister Gehlot had previously mentioned the idea of a vision-2030 document in his Independence Day speech on August 15.
- The Chief Minister also directed the Energy Department to ensure a reliable power supply across the state. The estimated power demand for September 2023 is 34.46 lakh units per day, with arrangements in place to meet this demand through various power sources, including the State Power Generation Corporation and contracted power plants.

Establishment of Gem Bourse in Jaipur

9 Project Directors of District Women Development Agencies to be Regularized as State Employees
- The Rajasthan Cabinet has approved the regularization of personnel appointed under the Rajasthan Civil Services (Special Selection of Project Directors, Project Officers, and other officers in Women Development Projects) Rules, 1984.
- This decision means that 9 project directors from District Women Development Agencies will be considered regular state employees from the date of their appointment.
- They will receive salaries, allowances, and benefits similar to other state employees, along with any consequential benefits.
RPSC: 10 Minutes Extra Time in Objective Examinations
- On August 29, 2023, the Secretary of the Rajasthan Public Service Commission announced an increase in the extra time allotted for candidates in objective examinations from 5 to 10 minutes.
- This additional 10 minutes will allow candidates to ensure that their OMR answer sheets are filled correctly by selecting one of the five options for each question.
- In the upcoming examinations, a fifth option will be included in both the question paper and the OMR sheet. If a candidate does not wish to answer a question, they must select the fifth option.
- Candidates are required to fill in only one option on the OMR sheet with a blue ballpoint pen, specifying their answer. Failure to answer a question by selecting one of the options will result in a deduction of 1/3 marks per question.
- If a candidate does not select any option for more than 10 percent of the questions, they will be disqualified from the examination.

- A provision of Rs. 465 crore has been made in the budget for the year 2023-24 to set up yoga and meditation centers in every Sanskrit college across the state.
