glide is described as the horizontal
movements from side to side on a key
wave or along the ribbons Glide is one
of the main reasons the emulations of
the stringed instrument sounds so real
just like a violin or a sitar the
Seaboard is fretless so you can smoothly
Bend up and down the key waves and the
ribbons on the top and the bottom

this organically lends itself to micro
tonal music prominent in Eastern Europe
and Asia where the individual scents in
between Western pitches play an
important role but just like a violin or
a sitar accuracy of pitch is something
which takes a lot of practice so
sometimes you may find that glide
prevents you from playing in tune let's
navigate to preset number 120 named
dolce digital Reed as you can see here
when I play a note it lands right in the
middle of the graph and as I bend up it
travels to the right and as I bend down
we travel to the left if I click on
glide we can see what else is mapped to
this gesture currently we have the
coarse knob on all three oscillators
mapped to the modulation with the bass
level starting at zero course in this
sense means pitch Bend and we have a
limit of traveling 48 semitones in
either direction as it stands now we
will start at zero and then as we Bend
down the coarse knob is was transposing
the oscillators to a lower pitch the
opposite is true if we Bend up

if we leave glide illuminated and
flipped through some of the other
presets you'll see that this is a
redundancy within most of them one of
the coolest things about the Seaboard is
that you can bend pitch on a polyphonic
basis and in different directions if
you're playing a monophonic sound you
obviously won't be able to do that since
you're limited to playing one note at a
time but any polyphonic patch will allow
you to do some crazy stuff which most
controllers aren't capable of using two
hands let's play two separate notes and
practice bending them independently and
then with one or two hands let's
practice some sustained voice Lading
using glide

like I had said before vibrato was
typically something which had to be
mapped to a mod wheel on a traditional
keyboard controller but with Glide we
can get very expressive vibrato again on
an independent note by note basis a
technique you'll find useful with
vibrato is to vary the amount of
movement in your wrist if you keep it
relatively even and just waver your
finger tip you'll get a smaller vibrato
but if you put your wrist into the
movement and rotate it from left to
right you'll get a more pronounced
vibrato as awesome and as expressive as
glide is you may find it difficult to
play in tuna times just like press glide
is assigned to one of the touch faders
on the sea board when you're in
expression mode this time to the one on
the left the icon above the fader makes
it easy to identify if I tap on the
bottom of this fader and turn glide off
we'll lose the inherent functionality of
this dimension but we'll always be
playing in tune if I just turn it down
to a low setting we'll still be able to
create vibrato but there will be less
gradient Bend as we travel up and down
the sea board we can still use glides
unique effect but add accuracy
