hi in this video i continued gimp 2.8
preferences and the next tab is
appearance here we have a lot of options
you can also access them from the view
menu and changes that you may hear will
last only for the current session when
you will start GIMP they will return to
the default state set here in
preferences and this dialog is divided
into sections the one options for
default appearance in normal mode right
now I am normal mode and the other
section is default appearance in full
screen mode you can access full screen
mode by going to the View menu and
selecting this option or you can use the
keyboard shortcut f11 first we have
shown menu bar and this will not take
effect immediately if I click on it to
this selected so I have to click ok then
restart game so i'm going to show you
these options by using the View menu and
the first one show many bar if I turn
this off you see that the menu bar
disappeared now you may be wondering how
you can access the menu bar when it's
going like this you can right-click on a
canvas here and choose view show menu
bar next we have show rulers and these
here are the rules let's turn them off
and see how game looks without them and
this leaves more space for the image to
be displayed if you're not using rules
often you may want to turn this off but
have in mind that you're going to do
some useful options I'll go to view and
turn them on again one of the things
that you won't be able to do is to drag
a guide if you click hold down the mouse
button you can drag guide from the ruler
also by holding down ctrl key click hold
down the mouse button drag you can draw
a sample point and this option here will
give you access to the menu again
if you turn the rules off you won't be
able to do these things have that in
mind like I said next let's move on to
the scroll bars which are these here I'm
going to zoom in a little bit and you
see now I can use the scroll bars to
scroll you can also scroll by turning
the mouse wheel vertically holding down
the shift key you can scroll
horizontally and if you turn them off
you're going to lose three other options
this one here zoom image one window size
changes this one navigate the image
display and also the quick mask mode on
an off option let's see how Gimple loop
without the scrollbars go to the view
and turn them off again we have more
space for the image to be displayed
moving on to the next option status bar
this down here is status bar shows some
useful information also you can zoom
from here and if you turn it off you can
see how GIMP looks now again more space
for the image to be displayed the next
option is show selection and I'm going
to make a selection using one of the
tools hit the enter key to apply it go
to the View menu and I can turn off the
selection and now I can see it now this
option has a keyboard shortcut ctrl T
and this can sometimes give you a lot of
headaches if you by mistake press ctrl T
and you try to make a selection and
you're wondering why it's not working
well check this option if this is off
next show layer boundary I'm going to
zoom out so we can see it it's indicated
by this black and yellow dashes and you
can choose not to see this let's to go
to the View menu and turn this off you
see how the image looks now next we have
show guides
if you turn this off you won't be able
to see the guides next we have show grid
by default this is off so let's go ahead
and turn it on from the view menu and
now we can see the grid and I'm going to
turn this off and talk about the next
option canvas pairing mode by default
this is from team if i select light
check color for example this will take
the cover of the checkerboard that
indicates transparency and to show you
this i'm going to right click on the
image add an alpha channel make a
selection and hit the Delete key to
delete part of the image now at this
part is transparent so you see that the
canvas pairing mode light check our took
this light gray color and applied it to
the canvas patterning we can choose it
to be the dark check our or we can
choose a custom color which right now is
white we can change that to do anything
we want to green for example and you see
how this looks if i zoom out for example
you may want your padding cower to be
black you can do that like this and
that's pretty much all the options we
have them again here and these will
apply for the full screen mode so for
example if you don't want to see your
selection sewers many bars and full
screen mode you can turn them off from
