hi i'm josh ellsworth with stahls TV and
this cad works tutorial we're gonna
teach you how to import and vectorize a
piece of raster art to make it cuttable
once you're in the CAD works designer
all you need to do is go to the file
menu and go down to import and vectorize
from there you'll click the Browse
button to navigate to the file that you
wish to select and vectorize have this
loaded somewhere the file saved
somewhere on your computer in this case
I'm going to search the desktop and I
have an Apple image here that I'm going
to vectorize it we pull it off the
internet just double click on that to
load it into CAD works and then CAD
works will walk you step-by-step through
the instructions so the first step is
you select the background color of your
image and typically this is white as it
says in the directions here click on
next and then you can pick up the 9
foreground colors so you can see in this
Apple we have three primary colors and
so you'll want to pick those three
primary colors if you have a color
gradient across one of the colors just
select something within the middle of
that gradient that way you're not
selecting a bunch of colors it'll
vectorize quicker with less color
selected once you have all of them
selected click on next and CAD works
will do the work for you it'll create a
vector trace and you can edit this trace
based on dragging the slider within
region resolution and fit to curve to
improve results if you don't get a good
trace good quality image in will result
in a better trace of course a bad
quality image you'll have to adjust the
slider bars to try to dial it in as good
as possible if we want to make a
justment we can just slide these click
apply and it will tweak the trace once
we're happy with the result we click OK
it'll drop right within our CAD works
design screen and just to show you this
is vector art
click on the wireframe view and you can
see all the cut lines there - ready to
send over to my cutter this has been a
