It is known that pH is an indication of the acidic or bases property of a substance.

The body can regulate this level but there are certain foods that cannot be controlled and increase acidity. The sour taste that arises out of acidity does not leave the mouth.

Sugary drinks, snacks and grains increase the acidity level.

 A lower pH of the mouth creates bad bacteria that eventually lead to decay of the tooth.

It can be prevented by avoiding food that causes acidity....

Tooth decay also known as dental caries happens when bacteria acting sugars produce acids that softens or demineralises the enamel and causes gradual softening of enamel and dentine. Tooth decay starts when the pH of the mouth is lower than 5.5. Tooth enamel is made up of calcium hydroxyapetite which is a crystalline form of calcium phosphate and it is the hardest substance in the body. It does not dissolve in water, but it is corroded when the pH of the mouth is below 5.5.To prevent the bacterias from causing tooth decay, the best way to clean the mouth after eating food. Using toothpaste, which are generally basic, for cleaning the teeth can neutralize the excess acid and prevent tooth decay.
