When the reverse bias across the collector base junction is increased, the width of the depletion region also increases. This leads to a decrease in the electric field strength across the depletion region. As a result, the number of minority carriers crossing the junction decreases, and so does the collector current.

However, the base current remains constant as the forward bias across the base emitter junction is kept constant. This means that the number of minority carriers injected into the base region remains the same.

Due to this decrease in collector current and constant base current, the transistor amplification factor or current gain decreases. This is known as the Early effect.

Therefore, the correct answer is option B, the base current will decrease.
