A bag contains one rupee, fifty paise and twenty five paise coins whos...
Coins Values 2: 5: 7 = 2+5+7= 14
Here 2 = value of 1 Rs coins, 5 = value of fifty paise coins and 7 = value of twenty five paise coins.
Thus, No of 1 Rs coins = 2×1 = 2
No of fifty paise coins = 5×2 = 10
No of twenty five paise coins = 7×4 = 28
Ratio of no of coins = 2:10:28
Total no of coins = 400
2x + 10x + 28x = 400
40x = 400. x = 10.
Total no of 1 Rs coin = 2×10 =20
Total no of fifty paise coins = 10×10 =100
Total no of twenty five paise coins = 28×10 =280. Total Value= 20 + 100/2 + 280/4 =140 Rs

A bag contains one rupee, fifty paise and twenty five paise coins whos...
Solution:

Let the common ratio between the values of the one rupee, fifty paise and twenty five paise coins be x.

Hence, the values of the coins are 2x, 5x and 7x respectively.

The total number of coins is given as 400.

Therefore,

Number of one rupee coins = 2x * 400/14 = 100x/7

Number of fifty paise coins = 5x * 400/14 = 100x/14

Number of twenty five paise coins = 7x * 400/14 = 200x/7

Total value of coins = (100x/7) * 1 + (100x/14) * 0.5 + (200x/7) * 0.25

= (100x/7) + (25x/7) + (50x/7)

= 175x/7

= 25x

Now, the total number of coins is given as 400.

Therefore,

100x/7 + 100x/14 + 200x/7 = 400

200x + 100x + 400x = 7 * 400 * 14

700x = 7 * 400 * 14

x = 8

Hence, the values of the one rupee, fifty paise and twenty five paise coins are 16, 40 and 56 respectively.

The total value of coins = 25x = 25 * 8 = 200.

Therefore, the total value of coins is Rs. 200.
