Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela (18 July 1918 – 5 December 2013) was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the country's first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid by tackling institutionalised racism and fostering racial reconciliation. Ideologically an African nationalist and socialist, he served as President of the African National Congress(ANC) party from 1991 to 1997.

Mandela served 27 years in prison, split between Robben Island, Pollsmoor Prison, and Victor Verster Prison.

Nelson Mandela was the key person behind the freedom of South Africa! He was a Freedom fighter, Non violence supporter , And He fought against the racial discrimination against blacks! He is called the Gandhi of South Africa! From The colonialism had discriminated the Native people of South Africa! There was a practice called Apartheid launched by Britishers! It forbidden the native people of S Africa from using public toilets, Church, Water , Beach, Anything that were used by Colonial rulers! Also the rulers had separated place to live from Blacks ! So Anyhow the people there started protesting against this apartheid, only because The leaders like Nelson Mandela Steped Ahead ! He was like Water in desert ! understood ! So he was put in jail in Barren island! but efforts were continued people continued fighting, they protested for the release of Mandela! After 28 years he was released from prison! Perhaps after 1960 and before 1962 he was released and S Africa got independence in 1961 ! From then The country is called Rainbow Nation! All people there , blacks and whites lived together! They worked together! They wrote Constitution together! This is why the constitution of S Africa Inspires the world!
