On selling an article at successive discounts of 20% and 25% a dealer ...
Given:
Successive discounts of 20% and 25%
Net profit = 20%

To find:
Net profit percentage when sold at a discount of 25%

Solution:
Let the marked price of the article be Rs. 100.
After 20% discount, the selling price becomes Rs. 80.
After 25% discount on Rs. 80, the selling price becomes Rs. 60.

Let the cost price of the article be Rs. x.
The selling price of the article with a net profit of 20% is given by:
1.2x

According to the question,
1.2x = 60
x = 50

Therefore, the cost price of the article is Rs. 50.

When the article is sold at a discount of 25%, the selling price becomes Rs. 75.
Net profit = Selling price - Cost price
Net profit = 75 - 50 = 25

Net profit percentage = (Net profit/Cost price) x 100
Net profit percentage = (25/50) x 100 = 50%

Hence, the net profit percentage when the article is sold at a discount of 25% is 50%.

On selling an article at successive discounts of 20% and 25% a dealer ...
Simple, let C.P = 100
successive discount= -20-25+25×20/100=-40%
But still profit of 20%.
so, S.P= 120×100/60=200Rs.
But after 25% Discount S.P- 200×75/100=150
profit% = 150-100= 50%
