Calculation of Power Received by Antenna

Given:

Carrier frequency = 300 MHz

Transmitting power = 2 kW

Distance between transmitting and receiving antennas = 1 km

Antenna gain = 1

Formula Used:

Friis transmission equation: Pr = Pt * Gr * Gt * (λ/4πd)^2

where,

Pr = power received by the antenna

Pt = power transmitted from the antenna

Gr = receiving antenna gain

Gt = transmitting antenna gain

λ = wavelength of the signal

d = distance between the antennas

Calculation:

Wavelength (λ) = c/f

where,

c = speed of light = 3 x 10^8 m/s

f = carrier frequency = 300 MHz = 300 x 10^6 Hz

λ = 3 x 10^8 / 300 x 10^6 = 1 m

Distance (d) = 1 km = 1000 m

Substituting the given values in the formula:

Pr = 2 x 10^3 * 1 * 1 * (1/4π x 1000)^2 * (1)^2

Pr = 12.7 W

Therefore, the power received by the antenna at a distance of 1 km is 12.7 W.
