Verified Answer
The approximate proportion of dry cement mortar required for brickwork...
Modular size of Brick is 19 cm 9 cm 9 cm

Size of Brick after application of Mortar = 20 cm 10 cm 10 cm

Volume of wet mortar can be calculated as:

V = volume of bricks with mortar – volume of bricks without mortar

V = (20  10  10) - (19  9  9) = 461 cm3

Volume of dry cement mortar = 1.33  461 = 613.13 cm3

Proportion of dry cement mortar is required for brickwork is given by,

P = 613.13/(20  10  10) = 30.65%

For calculation of volume of cement required, we consider the volume of dry cement mortar to be 33% more than the volume of wet cement mortar.

The approximate proportion of dry cement mortar required for brickwork...
The approximate proportion of dry cement mortar required for brickwork is 30%.

Explanation:

- Brickwork refers to the process of laying bricks in a systematic manner to form walls, columns, or other structures.
- Cement mortar is a mixture of cement, sand, and water used as a binding material in brickwork and other masonry works.
- The proportion of cement mortar required for brickwork depends on various factors such as the size of the bricks, the thickness of the walls, the level of the surface, etc.
- As per the standard practice in the construction industry, the proportion of cement mortar required for brickwork is generally 1:6, which means one part of cement is mixed with six parts of sand.
- This proportion of cement mortar requires approximately 30% of dry cement by volume.
- Therefore, the approximate proportion of dry cement mortar required for brickwork is 30%.
