Load factor is defined as the ratio of the average power consumed in a period to the maximum demand during that period. It is a measure of how efficiently a consumer is using the electricity.

Given,

Daily load pattern = 2000 kW, 0.8 p.f. for 12 Hrs and 1000 kW UPF 12 Hrs

Maximum demand = 2000 kW

Average power consumption = ((2000 kW x 0.8 p.f.) x 12 Hrs) + (1000 kW x 12 Hrs)

= (1600 kW x 12 Hrs) + (1000 kW x 12 Hrs)

= 19,200 kWh

Load factor = (19,200 kWh) / (24 Hrs x 2000 kW)

= 0.6

Therefore, the load factor is 0.6.
