A positive charge and sphere 2 has a negative charge. If the two spheres are brought into contact and then separated, what can be said about the charges on each sphere?

When the two spheres are brought into contact, the charges redistribute themselves between the two spheres. The positive charge on sphere 1 will attract some of the negative charge from sphere 2, and the negative charge on sphere 2 will attract some of the positive charge from sphere 1. As a result, the charges on each sphere become more evenly distributed.

After the spheres are separated, the charges on each sphere will remain the same as before they were brought into contact. The redistribution of charges between the spheres only occurs while they are in contact, but once they are separated, the charges on each sphere are fixed. Therefore, sphere 1 will still have a positive charge and sphere 2 will still have a negative charge.
