An aqueous solution of FeSO4, Al2(SO4)3 and chrome alum is heated with...
Solution:
The given aqueous solution contains FeSO4, Al2(SO4)3 and chrome alum. When this solution is heated with excess Na2O2, the following reactions take place:

1) FeSO4 + Na2O2 + H2O → Fe(OH)3 + Na2SO4
2) Al2(SO4)3 + Na2O2 + H2O → 2Al(OH)3 + Na2SO4
3) KCr(SO4)2 + 4Na2O2 + 2H2O → CrO5 + 4Na2SO4 + 2KOH

The above reactions show that the products obtained are insoluble hydroxides of Fe and Al, and soluble salts of Na and K. The chrome alum reacts with excess Na2O2 to form insoluble CrO5 and soluble Na2SO4 and KOH.

Hence, the materials obtained are:
- a yellow filtrate (due to the presence of Na2SO4 and KOH in water) and a brown residue (due to the presence of CrO5 and excess Na2O2)
