Let x be the number of incorrect answers gurupreet answered.
Since he answered all and got 9 correct, 9 + x = 15
Hence x = 15−9 = 6
So his total score is 4 ∗ 9 +(−2) ∗ 6 = 36−1 2= 24

-1 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer.

Let's assume that the student answers x questions correctly.
Therefore, the student answers (15 - x) questions incorrectly.

The total marks obtained by the student can be calculated as follows:
Total marks = (4 * x) - (1 * (15 - x))

Simplifying the equation:
Total marks = 4x - 15 + x
Total marks = 5x - 15

If the student answers all 15 questions correctly, then x = 15.
Total marks = 5(15) - 15
Total marks = 75 - 15
Total marks = 60

Therefore, the student can obtain a maximum of 60 marks in the test.
