- Initial water table depth (H1) = 20 m

- Specific retention (Sr) = 0.25
- Rise in water table depth due to rainfall (ΔH) = 2 m
- Calculations:
- Initial storage in aquifer (S1) = A * H1 = 2,000,000 m² * 20 m = 40,000,000 m³
- Final water table depth (H2) = H1 + ΔH = 20 m + 2 m = 22 m
- Final storage in aquifer (S2) = A * H2 = 2,000,000 m² * 22 m = 44,000,000 m³
- Change in storage (ΔS) = S2 - S1
= 44,000,000 m³ - 40,000,000 m³
= 4,000,000 m³
- Change in storage in hectares-meters (ΔS in ha m) = ΔS / 10,000
= 4,000,000 m³ / 10,000
= 400 ha m
