At a certain speed and flux, the voltage generated by a dc generator i...
Solution:

Given,

Voltage generated, V1 = 230 V

Speed is increased by 20%,

New speed, n2 = 1.2n1

Flux is reduced by 10%,

New flux, Φ2 = 0.9Φ1

To find,

New voltage generated, V2

Formula used:

V ∝ Φn

Where,

V = voltage generated

Φ = flux

n = speed

Calculation:

From the given data,

V1 = 230 V

n2 = 1.2n1

Φ2 = 0.9Φ1

Let's substitute these values in the formula,

V ∝ Φn

V1 = Φ1n1

230 = Φ1n1

n1 = 230/Φ1

Now,

V2 = Φ2n2

V2 = Φ1(0.9)n2

V2 = Φ1(0.9)(1.2n1)

V2 = Φ1(0.9)(1.2)(230/Φ1)

V2 = 220.68 V

Therefore, the new voltage generated is 220.68 V.

Hence, the correct answer is option D, i.e., the voltage generated is increased by 8%.
