Non-Alignment:

India and China have had periods of cooperation and conflict, but India has maintained its independence and pursued its own national interests in its relations with China.

India got it's freedom after the 2nd world war . The world was already divided into 2 blocs i.e. Western & Eastern blocs. Supporting either one of them makes you suspicious to the other .So, India decided to go non aligned.
