Common-Emitter Configuration of a BJT

The common-emitter configuration is one of the three basic configurations used in bipolar junction transistor (BJT) amplifiers. In this configuration, the emitter terminal is common to both the input and output, while the collector terminal is the output and the base terminal is the input.

Voltage Gain
In the common-emitter configuration, the voltage gain is medium. The voltage gain is defined as the ratio of the change in output voltage (Vout) to the change in input voltage (Vin). In the common-emitter configuration, the input voltage is applied to the base terminal and the output voltage is taken from the collector terminal. The common-emitter configuration provides a moderate voltage gain compared to the other configurations.

Low Input Impedance
The input impedance refers to the resistance offered by the amplifier circuit to the input signal. In the common-emitter configuration, the input impedance is low. This means that the amplifier circuit draws a relatively small amount of current from the input source, resulting in a low input impedance. The low input impedance allows for efficient transfer of the input signal to the amplifier circuit.

Low Power Gain
The power gain is defined as the ratio of the change in output power to the change in input power. In the common-emitter configuration, the power gain is low. This is because the input power is typically much larger than the output power, resulting in a low power gain. The low power gain indicates that the amplifier circuit does not significantly amplify the input power.

Highest Power Gain
The highest power gain is not applicable to the common-emitter configuration. The common-emitter configuration is not optimized for power amplification, but rather for voltage amplification. In applications where power amplification is required, other configurations such as common-base or common-collector are more suitable.

Therefore, based on the given options, the correct answer is option A, B, and D. The common-emitter configuration provides a medium voltage gain, low input impedance, and does not offer the highest power gain.
