Of two numbers, 1/5th of the greater is equal to 1/3rd of the smaller ...
Given: Sum of two numbers = 16, 1/5th of the greater number = 1/3rd of the smaller number

Let the two numbers be x and y, where x is the greater number.

Equation 1: x + y = 16 (Sum of the two numbers is 16)

Equation 2: (1/5)x = (1/3)y

Simplifying Equation 2, we get: y = (5/3)x

Substituting y = (5/3)x in Equation 1, we get:

x + (5/3)x = 16

Simplifying, we get: (8/3)x = 16

Solving for x, we get: x = 6

Substituting x = 6 in Equation 1, we get: y = 10

Therefore, the two numbers are 6 and 10, which is option A.

Of two numbers, 1/5th of the greater is equal to 1/3rd of the smaller ...
Look →if you don't know the actual answer go solution wise. take each of the solution and try to match it with the conditions mentioned in the question.

let's take first option. i, e (6, 10)

A) According to question the 1/5 th of the greater number is equal to 1/3 rd of the smaller number

Here, large number is 10.so it's 1/5 means..
→ 10 × 1/5 = 2 (i)

and smaller number is 6 ... so it's 1/3 means..
→ 6 × 1/3 = 2 ( ii)
[ both i and ii are equal ]

B) according to second condition.. the addition of 2 numbers is 16 soo
→ 10+6 = 16

so both the conditions of the question is satisfied by (6, 10)
